Demo, Rachel Thomas 25 January 2020
Rachel Thomas gave us a lively, colourful and inspirational sample of her work today. Her joy of colour, (especially blues and greens) was very apparent as we watched Rachel painting lobster, prawns and Green lipped mussels. These were placed on the floor so they were viewed from above and loosely painted using watercolours, oil pastels, gouache and candle wax resist. She talked us through all the stages of her work, as she built up the layers, made alterations and offered explanations for her thoughts whilst she worked on her painting.
For me, watching Rachel, was a real tonic and an interesting and very inspirational way of spending a cold dull January day!
