Demo, James Power, 26 October 2019
James {Jim} Power AIEA SEA comes from an equestrian background, working with horses all his life. He became a serious equestrian artist in the 1980's.
Jim began by showing us a basic framework of lines in order to correctly proportion a drawing of a horse reference then building with charcoal and chalks. He described how to complete several sketches from the same techniques and how to develop the muscles with shadow and light.
James made several direct and helpful references to Alfred Munnings and he is currently linked and working with the Munnings Museum.
After the tea break Jim described his palette and then treated us to a lively painting of a racehorse.
The afternoon most certainly gave us all a fascinating insight into the world of equestrian Art.
