Demonstration By Bob Brandt

Demo, Bob Brandt 28th September 2019

Bob Brandt is a former President of the Institute of East Anglian Artists. He has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil painters. He works in oils in a representative style. Bob gave us a most entertaining talk about how a painting should be a narrative rather than simply a copy of a scene. He talked about design and composition then showed us how he approaches an idea by first doing a rough sketch in acrylic. This can save a lot of time as, if the composition does not work, it can be changed at the sketch stage before committing to a painting which would take several hours. A most enjoyable talk which had us in stitches much of the time. Thank you Bob! By Ruth Mann
