After taking early retirement in 2007 at the age of 50, I decided to take an Art evening class and my interest was re-awakened. I took a Pet Portrait diploma with the London Art College during which I was encouraged to try graphite, coloured pencil, pastels, acrylics and oils. I still felt more at home with dry media and became more and more drawn to soft pastels. By 2010 I was, and still am, using soft pastels almost exclusively.

While I started out depicting animals I now love to try many subjects, though figurative work is what I am naturally best at. I am working hard on improving my landscape skills and enjoying the diversity of trying differing subject matter.

I have been a member of the Circle since 2009 and have exhibited in the Circle exhibitions in 2010 and 11, also exhibiting elsewhere in Norfolk and having some pieces at the Tudor Galleries in Norwich.

I am a member of the Board of the relatively new Pastel Guild of Europe whose aim is to support pastel artists and promote the pastel medium throughout Europe.

My artistic journey has only just begun and I am looking forward to practicing, learning and improving as the years go on.
