PAUL BARWICK

Paul Barwick is a landscape painter who has had no formal training in art but has learned from the English and Dutch landscape tradition, finding inspiration in the countryside where he has lived and worked as a forester.

Born in Norfolk in 1947, Paul has painted all his life, mainly in oils but occasionally and more recently in watercolour. The East Anglian landscape is a recurring theme but works include scenes from a variety of rural locations wherever there has been an opportunity to interpret a view or celebrate the country way of life. The paintings are executed in a traditional style and the subjects, although set in particular places or as records of countryside activities, are usually inspired by the interplay of light in a landscape and the vagaries of the weather.

Paul has been exhibiting work since 1960 and has held a number of successful one-man exhibitions over the years featuring the places he was working in at the time. In recent years Paul has exhibited at the Crome Gallery, Elm Hill, in Norwich where work can occasionally be viewed. His work is owned by collectors both in the UK and abroad.

He has continued to paint since retirement and examples of current and past work can be seen by clicking here
